BEEKEEPERS RETIREMENT AUCTION SALE

For VAN HAN APIARIES LTD. (Day 1 of 2 auction dates - LIVE HIVE SALE)

TUESDAY, APRIL 1st starting at 12 Noon

KEREMEOS (Okanagan), British Columbia

Fraser Auction offers pre-arranged cell phone bidding on live hives.  Neil 204-729-5705 / Scott 204-724-2131

AUCTION VIEWING: Sale day starting at 10AM

SALE DIRECTIONS: From Penticton - take highway 3A to Keremeos, turn east on Upper Bench Rd. and continue for 2 1/2kms.  Bee yard is on the left side of the Road.

AUCTIONEER’S NOTES: Van Han Apiaries Ltd. Is a large scale beekeeping operation based in the Dawson Creek, BC area for many years now, and over-winters their hives in the Okanagan.  These bees are used for pollination in the Orchards each spring, and then taken back to the Peace Country for honey production. However – as the entire beekeeping operation is now being sold, they wish to offer up these hives for public auction on site at the wintering yard.  THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY to purchase bees for pollination or honey production.  All hives are bought to be moved.

AUCTION PROCESS FOR HIVES: High bidder on the hives has the option to take either only 1 at that price, or can choose to take as many of them as they wish.  This makes it fair for both the hobby beekeeper who may only require a few hives, as well as the commercial pollinator/honey producer wanting them all.

FEATURING:

668 double brood live colonies came out of wintering - after weak ones and dead-outs were removed. Each hive comes with 2 well-built 9-frame boxes, bottom board, telescopic lid, queen excluder, carpet & feeder (bees were treated with Apistan in fall of 07, had been using Terramycin for AFB - note there may be a resistance) hives were inspected by the Provincial Apiculturist’s office - the following information was forwarded to our office:

Hi Neil,

According to the verbal report from one of my inspectors, the inspection of both wintering sites went really well. I would think that the written reports have been mailed to my office.
For the inspection, I had assigned two inspectors who inspected 50 randomly-selected colonies in each of the wintering sites. They reported no apparent presence of disease. There was some evidence of Nosema but not at a level of concern. As soon as I have the inspection reports, I will forward them to Van Han who will then forward them to you. I trust you can appreciate that I need to follow this protocol.
Indeed, the result of the inspection will involve the issuance of a sales permit which I will be happy to forward to you.

Please provide your fax number.
regards
